Los Angeles Dodgers Star Mookie Betts Joined Ted Williams in Baseball History on Friday Night

The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Kansas City Royals on Friday night by a score of 9-3.

Mookie Betts went 4-4 in the win with two home runs. We already told you that Betts extended his own personal baseball history by having two home runs out of the leadoff spot.

But the star actually made more history as well, this time putting himself in a class with Hall of Famer Ted Williams.

In the modern era, only one other MLB player has matched or exceeded all 3 of those slash-line numbers over a span of 3 road games (min. 10 PA): Ted Williams (Sep. 21-23, 1957).

They then added the line for Williams:

Williams went 4-for-4 with 2 HR, 8 walks and a HBP for a slash line of 1.000/1.000/2.500 over those 3 games (2 at the old Yankee Stadium, 1 at Griffith Stadium).

Any time you are mentioned in the same statistical reference as Ted Williams, you've done something right.

With the outburst, Betts is now hitting .270 this year with 22 homers and 55 RBI. He's also stolen seven bases.

In addition to his impending participation in the Home Run Derby, Betts also was named a starter for the All-Star Game. This gives him seven appearances in his career. One of the best players of his generation, he also is a five-time Silver Slugger Award winner, a six-time Gold Glover, a two-time World Series champion (2018, 2020) and a batting champion.
