Celebrity New York Knicks Fan Calls Out Analyst for Biased Coverage Against Philadelphia 76ers
Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Knicks are a game away from ending the Philadelphia 76ers’ season earlier than they would have liked. While the Sixers firmly believe they can force a seven-game series, the odds are stacked against them.

Knicks fans are enjoying the sight of seeing their team systematically take down a squad as strong as Philly. While they’re reveling at the sight of their team playing good basketball, they’re making sure that their voices are well-heard.

One particularly famous Knicks fan didn’t hesitate to let a popular NBA analyst know his thoughts about his coverage of his favorite team very recently.

Ben Stiller calls out Richard Jefferson for unfavorable commentary on the New York Knicks

Ben Stiller is a popular Knicks fan who always sit courtside whenever he could make time to watch his favorite team. Since the Knicks are doing a fantastic job this season, the actor made sure to keep track of the Knicks’ games against the Sixers.

An avid basketball fan himself, the Zoolander actor called out ESPN analyst Richard Jefferson for his coverage of his favorite team.

Per The Spun’s Andrew Gould:

“Richard Jefferson claiming Embiid doesn’t get calls, and doesn’t foul,” Stiller wrote.

Stiller appeared to disagree with that sentiment during the first half of a contentious series. Jefferson later defended himself to the Meet The Parents star on social media.

It seems clear Stiller has a bigger gripe with the referees than Jefferson.

“Benjamin I love you,” Jefferson replied. “But that’s not what I said!”

“Respect Richard. But Embiid gets SO many calls,” Stiller retorted. “And the reference was to the one foul that [Nicolas] Batum did commit.”

It’s a passionate retort from Stiller, who clearly understands how well Embiid has been playing right now. Embiid is putting together a solid series against the Knicks, averaging 35.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.0 blocks a game.

However, Stiller cannot also deny that his Knicks are putting together a string of impressive performances. Jalen Brunson has been playing well, but players like Josh Hart, OG Anunoby, and Miles McBride are also making great strides to help the Knicks win.

Stiller and the rest of the New York Knicks fanbase hope the team doesn’t squander their 3-1 lead and close out the series against a strong Philly side.
