ESPN analyst draws strong conclusion from exciting Patriots' Drake Maye practice video
Eric Canha-USA TODAY Sports

The offseason program is in full swing, and OTAs officially began at Gillette Stadium for the New England Patriots.

Drake Maye took the field alongside veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett, giving the media the opportunity to see the duo working together.

The Patriots posted a fun video, with Maye and head coach Jerod Mayo being mic'd up at one of the practices. Both were very vocal, and one analyst had an important takeaway from the quarterback's clips.

ESPN analyst Eddie Royal, took to X, formerly known as Twitter, expressing his views on the video.

"If you understand ball of ever been in a huddle you know how important this video is...I didn't need to see one throw to know he's going to be a star. This type of communication coming from a rookie is off the charts," he wrote.

In one moment during the video, Maye was seen communicating with rookie receivers Ja'Lynn Polk and Javon Baker. And wanted to hear from them, while also helping them out.

He is a natural leader and despite being a rookie, he's not afraid to speak up.

This is what the Patriots need and Maye is already delivering.

Maye was selected by New England with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, and is viewed as the next franchise quarterback for the Patriots.

Mac Jones, who had been drafted in the first round by the Patriots in 2021, didn't work out the way anyone wanted. And it resulted with him being traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars this offseason.

Along with bringing in Maye, the Patriots also drafted quarterback Joe Milton III out of Tennessee. So there is a lot to be excited about with New England heading into this new era.

And it all starts with Maye.
